This stunning bird's-eye view of Zurich shows the two parts of the city separated by the River Limmat, with the edge of Lake Zurich at right. The Old Town appears in the foreground with the church of St. Peter on the left and the Gothic Frawen Munster (Benedictine nunnery) on the right. Across the river, the Romanesque Grossmunster and the Predigerkirche dominate the skyline. A key at bottom right identifies 23 other sites of interest. There is fine detail of the city's bridges, fortifications, and canal. The arms of Zurich and various cantons and provinces decorate the top right corner of the engraving.
