This elegant and scarce map covers Andalusia and Portugal south of Lisbon. It comes from a multi-sheet map of Spain and Portugal from the Neapolitan mapmaker Paolo Petrini, best known for his extraordinarily rare wall maps. The map was published during the War of Spanish Succession and features battling ships in the Gulf of Cadiz. Additional ships appear in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Towns, cities, seaports, bishoprics, archbishoprics, battlefields, and political divisions are identified, and there is some nice topographical detail. There is a decorative cartouche in the bottom left corner with a coat-of-arms and historical note in Italian. An alternate title appears at bottom left: Il Teatro della Guerra di Portogallo Contutti i Regni della Spagna Confinanti Ad Esso.

A fine impression with light stains and soiling. There is a centerfold separation in the bottom blank margin.
