This 39 page report consists of S.S. Hays' “Special Report No. 7. Report of the United States Revenue Commission on petroleum as a source of national revenue.” It is a very early and detailed report on the history, production and potential of the nascent oil industry when its daily production was a mere 12,000 barrels. Includes excellent production data, along with a list of the owners of all the wells in Venango County, Pennsylvania. Disbound.
