This impressive and complete three volume set was published by Samuel Walker in Boston. The voluminous contents are divided into 157 "books" describing all geographies of the world with volume 1 (640 pages) focused on Asia, volume 2 (680 pages) concentrated on Africa and the Americas, and volume 3 (713 pages) dedicated to Europe. The volumes are embellished with 66 single-page maps and views including maps of the continents (excluding Australia) and nice views of Niagara Falls, New York City, Philadelphia, and the President's House. The work also dedicates 11 plates (mostly views) to Italy. Each volume features an engraved frontispiece including views of the Washington Capitol and London. Quarto, hardbound in quarter calf with tips over cloth boards with gilt title labels on spine.

Condition: B+

Maps are overall very good to mostly near fine with occasional scattered foxing. Text is mostly clean and bright with occasional foxing, small sections of toning, and the first 20 pages of volume 1 has a light dampstain at bottom. The hinges are starting, covers are lightly worn, and the edges are bumped. The spine of volume 1 is chipped.
