Here's a different kind of star map - no, not a celestial map, but one focused on the houses of Hollywood celebrities. Published by Mitock and Sons, this souvenir pamphlet features three maps showing the locations of Hollywood stars in Brentwood, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills. Beverly Hills is the largest of the three maps, listing 113 celebrities including Fred Astaire, Ingrid Bergman, Bogart and Bacall, James Cagney, Charlie Chaplin, Marlene Dietrich, Katherine Hepburn, three of the Marx brothers, Vincent Price, David O. Selznick, Barbara Stanwyck, and Elizabeth Taylor. Tourists could track down Gary Cooper, Joan Crawford, Henry Fonda, James Stewart, and Orson Welles in Brentwood. Among the celebrities on the Bel Air list are Bing Crosby, Rita Hayworth, Alfred Hitchcock, Burt Lancaster, and Maureen O'Hara. The pamphlet includes an additional list of big names not identified on the three maps, helpful hints for places to go to see the stars, and a diagram locating stars' beach homes on the Santa Monica ocean front.
