This nicely detailed city plan of Buenos Aires was engraved by R. Hausermann and printed in Paris by Lemercier et Cie. At the time of this plan's publication, Buenos Aires was in the midst of a major transformation as an influx of European immigrants turned the city into a major international cultural center. The plan depicts the city in grid form with streets and neighborhoods named. Plazas, churches, and cemeteries are located, and a key at bottom right identifies 15 important sites. North is oriented to the right. The map is dissected, backed in linen, and folds into original red cloth-covered boards with gilt titling.

The map is lightly toned with some minor spots and there are a few short separations of the linen along the folds. Boards have shelf wear and some soiling.
