This lot includes 3 of the 4 volumes of the Congressional Information Service's comprehensive index of maps published by Congress in between 1789 and 1897. It is an invaluable resource for collectors interested in U.S. government maps. The first volumes has entries for 37 maps from the American State Papers and 2160 other government maps. The second volume covers maps #2162 through #3548. The third volume in this lot indexes geographical areas and subjects R-Z and includes indices organized by map title, personal names, and corporate names. The volume indexing geographical areas and subjects A-Q is not included here. Serial Set Volumes ASP01-2160 and Serial Set Volumes 2162-3548 combined - 1274 pp.; Index by Geographic Areas and Subjects, R-Z comprises pages 605-1193. Hardbound in faux leather with gilt titles on covers and spines.
