A. Kobe Bird’s Eye View, circa 1935 (41.3 x 8.1"). This beautiful bird's-eye view of Kobe and the surrounding region unfolds to nearly 3.5 feet long with superb coloring. Printed on heavy paper, the view covers the region from Osaka to Akashi with north situated at bottom, and shows pictorial representations of railroads, roads, urban development, and mountain forests that are surrounded by silver clouds. Place names are in English, making it especially useful for the tourist. The verso contains related text entitled "Places of Interest in Kobe." Printed by Toppan Printing Company. B. [Kobe], circa 1910 (7.9 x 6.6"). This small Chinese woodblock map of Kobe shows the street grid pattern and canals of the city. Decorated by a sizable illustration of two ships sailing under Japanese flags. Condition: (A)
