This charming map of Western Africa contains spurious information and lovely decorative elements. Detail is largely confined to the coast and the Niger River, which flows in perpendicular to the equator, with a large lake (Lago Grande). The interior is filled with mountain ranges, a few rivers, and a number of depictions of animals, including elephants, lions, monkeys, and a crocodile. The distance scale appears on an ivory tusk held by putti wading through the ocean. On recto is a small map of Goree Island, located just south of Dakar, Senegal. On a sheet of Italian text measuring 13.1 x 18.3".
