This is the reprint edition of the original edition that was published in Washington, 1901. It contains a subject-chronological monograph relating to the maps that were in the Library of Congress as of November, 1897. Listing over 10,000 maps, it is a valuable reference for maps of America. 1137pp. 8vo, hardbound in green cloth with silver titles on black on front and spine. Condition: Contents are very good. Covers are lightly stained with some minor shelf wear. (B+)
B. A List of Atlases and Maps Applicable to the World War, by Philip Lee Phillips, published 1918 (7.3 x 10.4"). This is the first edition of this compendium of American and foreign atlases compiled by the Chief of the Division of Maps at the Library of Congress. 202 pp. Hardbound in red cloth with gilt titles on the spine. Condition: Contents are lightly toned around the edges with some minor soiling. Front hinge is starting. Covers have light shelf wear and dampstaining. (B)
C. Descriptive Catalog of Maps Published by Congress 1817-1843, by Martin P. Claussen and Herman R. Friis, published 1997 (5.6 x 8.6"). This informative catalog was compiled by Martin P. Claussen and Herman R. Friis and focuses on maps created by government agencies and published in congressional documents. It lists 429 maps, organized chronologically and by the House that issued them. Originally published in 1941, this is the reprint from 1997 that was limited to just 150 copies. 104 pp. Hardbound in blue-green cloth. Condition: Near fine. (A)
