This monumental work on the history and mapping of Mexico was created by Victor M. Ruiz Naufal, Ernesto Lemoine, Arturo Galvez Medrano, and others. The complete set includes two volumes and a map portfolio, and is rarely found together and complete. This important work is possibly the most in-depth study of the cartography of Mexico ever produced. Volume I focuses on the nation as a whole beginning with pre-Cortesian maps to the present. Volume II includes chapters on each of the 32 states of Mexico. Both volumes are profusely illustrated with many images in full color. Vol. I: 447 pp.; Vol. II: 787 pp. Both volumes hardbound in quarter faux tan vellum with brown printed paper covered boards, and gilt titling on front covers and spines. Housed in a brown printed paper slipcase.
The folio volume contains 36 facsimile maps and plans reproduced in full color on individual bifolia with complete descriptions of each map. The maps are housed in a handsome clam-shell case covered in tan faux vellum and brown printed covers with a leather strap closing the case. Only 3,000 copies of this important work were printed.
