This map extends from the coastal communities of Los Angeles east to Big Bear Lake and Elsinore, showing the Motor Transit Company routes (solid red lines) and other motor coach routes (dotted red lines). Three tables detail the stops along the various routes and the connection points. The verso is filled with a wealth of information. Text and illustrations show the different types of buses the company began to manufacture for its own use in 1925, which helps to date the map as the company was sold to the Pacific Electric Railway in 1930. The verso also includes many other illustrations of the company’s properties as well as sights around Los Angeles. The Motor Transit Company was founded by Olive Ransome Fuller in 1916 or 1917 and rapidly became the largest bus company in California carrying passengers as well as freight. Three institutional examples were located on OCLC. Self-folding (6.2 x 9.5").
