This rare historical map of Britain shows the Ptolemaic divisions and Roman names throughout. Towns and cities are identified, and there is nice detail of the region's mountains and rivers. Gilles Robert de Vaugondy based his similarly titled map of 1750 on Sanson's cartography here. An ornate title cartouche decorates the top left corner. Two distance scales appear at bottom left. Engraved by F. Bertin.
