This finely engraved view shows the town of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland. It depicts the town along the High Rhine with excellent detail of its fortifications and architecture. A key along the bottom of the sheet identifies 27 sites of interest, among them Munot, the circular fortress built in the 16th century, and Munster Allerheiligen, the oldest building in town. Two shields emblazoned with crowned rams appear in the top corners. Created and engraved by Caspar Lang and Merian.
