Ortelius based his map of the Piedmont region on the cartography of Giacomo Gastaldi. Milan is in the upper right corner and Monaco is at lower left. The map is a great illustration of the mountainous countryside and is filled with information including even the tiniest of villages. Ornamented with two cartouches and a sailing ship in the Mediterranean. French text on verso. There is a visible crack in the plate at bottom.
References: Van den Broecke #128.
Condition: A
A nice impression on a bright sheet with marginal soiling and minor show-through of text on verso. On verso, half of the page is covered in old, manuscript text.
