This is the first state of this handsome map of the province of Brescia in northern Italy, based on Christoforo Sorte's map of the region. Oriented with north to the left, the map depicts Lake Garda and Lake Iseo, numerous small towns, and the extensive river system in the region. Three strapwork cartouches decorate the map. French text on verso, published in 1598.

A sharp impression on a bright sheet with an old manuscript page number below the map at right and light toning along the edges of the sheet.
