This is a bold and very decorative map of Asia with particularly interesting geographical inaccuracies. A partially delineated island is located in the area of Honshu and is labeled Companies Land. An accompanying note acknowledges Scherer as the source. The legendary Lake Chiamay appears south of Tibet with four rivers flowing south and is named L. Cananor Cunabete. In Southeast Asia the straits between New Guinea and Australia appear in a tentative fashion, noting Dampier's Strait and a disembodied Carpentaria with no definite northern limit. The title cartouche features an Asian queen holding court with exotic animals. This is an updated edition of this map with the Kamchatka Peninsula finally making an appearance, and a more accurate representation of the Caspian Sea, which previously had been depicted as circular.
