This large and informative map extends from the eastern seaboard to include the Great Lakes, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas and Louisiana. It shows a comprehensive view of the evolving railroad network, with lines under construction reaching St. Joseph and Jefferson City, MO and Vicksburg, MS. Projected lines are shown with dotted lines and extend to Iowa, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Includes large inset maps of Florida and Texas at right. Printed on four sheets and joined. Drawn and engraved under direction of the Editor of the American Railroad Journal.

On a clean bright sheet with several small splits at the fold junctions with minor loss of image. The map is still glued to the front cover at lower right with a 8.75" fold separation along the edge of the board.
