This is a reduced size, German version of the map drafted by Pierre Chassereau and published by Thomas Bowles, London in 1739. It presents the city, fortifications and harbor oriented with north in the lower left corner. An inset contains a view of the famous El Morro Castle with its chain connected to the fort at La Punta guarding the harbor entrance. The plan is adorned with a title cartouche and legend bedecked with the implements of war. Issued with a plan of Cartegena on a folio sheet, that has been removed from this example.
