This handsome small map of the French portion of Hispaniola, known as Saint Domingue, focuses on the cities, rivers and mountain on the island. The map is based on Jesuit sources, as indicated in the title cartouche, which is adorned with two explorers and the French royal coat of arms. Engraved by C. de P.

A dark impression on a sheet with a fleur-de-lis coat of arms watermark, issued folding and now flattened with some overall creasing, light offsetting, and repairs to some small separations and holes along the folds. A binding trim at left has been replaced with old paper.
