This striking map focuses primarily on Hungary, but extends to include portions of Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, and Serbia. It centers on Kalocsa, one of the oldest towns in Hungary and locates numerous notable larger cities, including Budapest (still divided into Buda and Pest), Vienna, Bratislava (Posonium), Kosice (Cassovia), and Szeged. Political divisions are delineated, and there is some nice topographical detail. Published during a time of constant tension and warfare between various European/Christian powers and the Ottomans, its title cartouche features an allegorical figure hoisting a crucifix as he stomps an Ottoman.
