This propaganda map was created by the War Resisters League, which was founded in 1923 and continues today as a secular, pacifist organization in the United States dedicated to campaigning against war and military interventions. The map shows the vast military infrastructure in the United States, with the names and locations of over 1,000 military installations identified. Included are the major facilities for Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Air National Guard, and Department of Energy. The text at bottom explains that the map was intentionally divided into sections to show "how these military facilities fragment and disrupt our society." Both the title and the text threaten the potential for a Third World War due to the extensive militarism in the United States. The verso lists each of the facilities and includes details on the name, location, and a description of their function. The list was compiled through various sources, including government publications and both pro-and anti-military groups. Facilities that could not be located on a map are indicated with an asterisk and listed in the corner of each map section.
