This delicately engraved map is a reduced version of John Smith's map of the Chesapeake Bay region. Despite its small size, it is filled with pictorial topography and towns with both English and Native names, including Jamestown (Iamestowne). A key appears within the delicate title cartouche at top left, balanced by the Royal Arms of England at top right. This map only appeared in the 1648 and 1651 German editions of Jansson's Atlas Minor, and is therefore very rare. German text on verso, published between 1648-51.

Light show-through of text on verso with minor foxing mostly confined to the blank margins.
