This charming pictorial map of the Finger Lakes region in upstate New York was compiled by Sidney E. Ayres and "Mrs. Walter A. Hendricks" and drawn by C. M. Plafsted. The map extends north to Lake Ontario, west to Honeoye Lake, east to Otisco Lake, and as far south as Corning and Oswego. The landscape is filled with charming illustrations highlighting the history and culture of the region. Included among the illustrations are the Battle of Newtown (1779), La Salle exploring the region in 1669, and portraits of Harriet Tubman and Mark Twain. The map is bordered by columns of historical text at left and right. Printed by Penn Yan Printing Company. This is the first edition; a revised edition was issued in 1962.
