A charming manuscript map of the continent by a German student, signed "Joh.s Bodey." Countries are delineated, rivers and mountains are depicted, and place names are identified along the coasts. Present-day Colombia is labeled N. Granada, which was created in 1831 and was transformed in 1858 to the Granadine Confederation. Patagonia is identified at the southern tip of the continent, which was increasingly encroached upon by Chile and Argentina in the mid-nineteenth century.
