This is General Pershing's closing report on the operations of the U.S. Army on the Western Front of World War I. The 95 pages of text includes sections on the American Expeditionary Forces' creation, its operation, supplies and munitions, and a miscellaneous section including the handling of prisoners of war. Pershing's report is augmented by 16 folding plates, including 7 battle maps. Of particular interest are the large folding maps Map of St. Mihiel Offensive (31.2 x 22.2") and Map of Meuse-Argonne Offensive (28.0 x 33.0"). Both of these maps have an incredible three-dimensional quality including the depiction of topography, forests, rivers, roads, and railroads with red overprinting showing daily troop movements. Other plates include a diagram showing the flow of supplies and a number of organizational charts. The title page indicates this example was "Compliments of General Pershing" (printed). Hardbound in light brown cloth with title labels on the spine.
