This is a very attractive map of the Iberian peninsula surrounded by stipple engraved seas, in which there are ships and sea monsters. The land is full of cities, mountains and forests. A large strapwork title cartouche and scale of miles with a divider ornament the map. This is the third state, with additional place names around the Strait of Gibraltar. Latin text on verso.

Contemporary color on a sheet with the horn coat of arms watermark commonly found on Ortelius maps. There is light soiling, a damp stain in the title cartouche, and some separations and tears around the centerfold at bottom that have been archivally repaired on verso.
