This finely engraved map by Girolamo Porro depicts the numerous Greek islands in the Aegean Sea, extending as far as the Gulf of Venice. It is adorned by a decorative title cartouche, stippled sea, and set in a full sheet of Italian text (7.8 x 11.8"). Porcacchi's L'Isole piu Famose del Mondo was published in seven editions beginning in 1572, and was one of the last island atlases published, following the works of Buondelmonti, Sonetti and Bordone.
