This lovely pictorial map by Umberto Zimelli highlights the wines of Italy. Important wine makers in each region are shown, with the color of the label indicating whether the winery produces red, white or a dessert wine. Vignettes of locals involved in various aspects of the wine making process fill the blank spaces of the map. The title cartouche features a man stomping on grapes in a barrel underneath a grapevine covered pergola. On verso is an English description of the wines of Italy by Arturo Marescalchi. Published in Italy by ENIT, the Italian State Tourist Department to encourage tourism in Italy despite the fascist regime at the time.
