These two title pages from atlases by Covens & Mortier were printed in both black and red ink. The first title page was for a French atlas containing maps by Delisle and features an engraving of Atlas holding a globe and standing before the shop of an atlas publisher, in which patrons are viewing maps for sale. Engraved by I. Folkema. The second is for a Dutch atlas containing maps by Sanson and features a double-hemisphere globe depicted in reverse (as if viewed from the interior of a globe) with very rudimentary coastlines, a huge southern continent, and California depicted as an island.
