This sheet from the November 15, 1862 issue of The Illustrated London News includes two Civil War engravings. The top engraving depicts the chaos of the Second Battle of Bull Run (August 29-30, 1862), a grisly battle with over 21,000 casualties. Below it is a serene view of Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy. In the foreground, men relax in the shade and look out upon the James River. A couple tent encampments can be seen as well as much of the city's architecture.
