Hardy’s map provides a detailed survey and chart of the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez) with his route depicted. He was a commissioner of the General Pearl and Coral Fishery Association of London and traveled to Mexico to study the pearl potential. The map is full of information on the little-known regions of Sonora and Lower California with emphasis on mining. It incorrectly depicts the mouths of both the Gila and Colorado Rivers at the head of the gulf. Published by Henry Colburn.
