This lot includes a trio of Mallet's lovely miniature maps of the continent. The first (3.9 x 5.6") , published in Tome I of Description de l'Univers, extends to include largely unengraved portions of North Africa, Turkey, and the Arabian Peninsula. Place names are limited to countries and major rivers, mountain ranges, and cities. The decorative title cartouche at bottom left depicts the abduction of Europa. The other two maps (4.3 x 5.9") appear at the start of Tome IV and show the continent with modern and ancient nomenclature. French text on verso of Europe and Europe Ancienne.

The maps have nice impressions on lightly toned sheets with a couple spots of printer's ink residue. The "Moderne" and "Ancienne" maps have dampstains in the margins. The "Ancienne" map has a few light spots in the map image.
