This elegantly engraved two-sheet map depicts the vast extent Russian Empire. The map features many place names and striking topographical detail. It is dedicated to Peter the Great and - more importantly - to Elizabeth Petrovna. Elizabeth was Peter's second oldest-daughter and the Empress who was given primary credit for making the map possible. The bottom cartouche is shown in both French and Latin. There is also a detailed title cartouche in the upper-left with various coats of arms of the Russian Empire. Engraved by I. Condet.
