This 28-page congressional report concerns the establishment of a naval base in the Philippines near the end of the Philippine–American War. It features 6 sketch maps and a long folding panoramic View of Olongapo Naval Station, Subig Bay (53.5 x 6.0"). After considering sites at both Manila and Subic bays, the naval commission under the guidance of Admiral George C. Remey ultimately selected Subic Bay and appropriations were made to construct docks, dry docks, workshops, a hospital, massive facilities for coal and fuel, and a railroad connecting Olongapo with Manila. This very large base (262 square miles) would continue operations until 1992, and was subsequently transformed by the Philippine government as the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Disbound.
