This is a gorgeous composite facsimile featuring 56 town and city plans from the German editions of Braun and Hogenberg's Civitates Orbis Terrarum. Rather than replicating one volume, the atlas compiles notable plans from across the various volumes. The atlas includes key views such as London, Lisbon, Seville, Paris, Amsterdam, Moscow, Prague, Zurich, Vienna, Budapest, Rome, Constantinople, and Jerusalem. It also features the map of Denmark, the only actual map in Braun and Hogenberg's series. Each double-page plan is in full color and printed on paper designed to appear antique, with descriptive German text on verso. At the end of the atlas, there are 15 pages of modern text providing context. Book also comes with an accompanying CD-ROM. Published by Coron Exclusiv and printed in Berlin. Hardbound in red faux-leather with elaborate gilt decorations on covers and spine and gilt edges.
