This map was created by William Longyear to accompany Latin textbooks published by Silver Burdett and Co. The map centers on the Mediterranean Sea and is filled with pictorial representations of mythological figures and ancient places, such as Neptune, Hercules, Babylon and Alesia. The design of the map is definitively Art Deco, giving a modern look to these ancient figures. At top is an inset plan of ancient Rome.
