This manuscript map of Washington County is drawn on onionskin by the Houston-based Rock Map Company. The county lies between Austin and Houston and is home to Washington-on-the-Brazos, the site of the Convention of 1836 and the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The map identifies cities and unincorporated communities including Brenham, Burton, Independence, Latium, and the present-day ghost town Gay Hill. Land plots are delineated and named. State Highway 20 and the railroads are traced.
