Small map of the strategic passage in the Upper Lakes system, which was so important to the colonial fur trade. Shows Lake Superior and Huron connected by the Straits of Mackinac and depicts numerous islands, forts, and missions. Adorned with a nice compass rose. Engraved by Desbruslins.

Issued folding, now pressed with very light offsetting. Trimmed to neatline at right and lower left and remargined.
