This French double hemisphere world map is simply and handsomely engraved to include major place names and key topographical details. There are only five cities named in all of North America: New Orleans, Washington, Boston, Halifax, and Quebec. Cape Mendocino is identified on the western coast. Numerous Pacific islands are named, including Owihee in the Sandwich Islands. Australia and New Zealand are depicted with relative accuracy. New Guinea's coastline is incomplete in the southeast. The South Sandwich islands are represented by a fragment of coastline.
