This is a detailed map of Lac Leman in Switzerland and the surrounding countryside. Cherubs enhance the title cartouche and scale of miles. The map was drawn by Giovanni Tommaso Borgonio and engraved by Joannes de Broen. Blaeu's Townbook of Savoy and Piedmont, better known as the Theatrum Sabaudiae was initiated in the 1660's by Carlo Emanuele II, Duke of Savoy from 1638 to 1675. However it was not published until after the deaths of both Blaeu and the duke in 1682 by Blaeu's heirs.
