A. [Title on Verso] Descriptio Regionum et Locorum, de Quibus in Act. Apostolorum Libro Passim fit Mentio..., by Guillaume Postel, from Biblia Sacra, circa 1567 (6.0 x 3.6"). This charming miniature map shows the eastern Mediterranean between Sicily and the Holy Land, extending to the Black Sea and the Persian Gulf. Rivers, cities and mountains are depicted in an exaggerated size, and a small ship sails in the Mediterranean. Latin text on verso. Condition: Light toning and minor foxing. (B+)

Nice miniature with three maps of the Mediterranean on one sheet, all with drape-style cartouches. The first map, Mer Mediterranee selon les anciens, shows an overview of the region as it was known to the ancients. The last two maps, Partie Orientale de la Mer Mediterranee and Partie Occidentale de la Mer Mediterranee show the eastern and western portions of the sea in more detail. French text on verso. Reference: Pastoureau, MANESSON-MALLET I [83]. Condition: An nice impression with marginal soiling. (A)
