This charming map depicts the Kingdom of Wisdom, centered on Philosophy Island in the middle of the Sea of Ignorance. There are several surrounding islands, including those for Doctors, Laywers, Poets, Speakers, and History. Together these islands form an illustrious circle of the sciences, from which theology remains excluded. At the fringes of the map are places to avoid, such as the Region of Religious Opinion and the Land of Vanity & Folly. This map was copied from Franz von Reilly's Atlas von der Moralischen Welt (1802), which included ten allegorical maps of various imaginary worlds and moral concepts, and was re-engraved by Joseph Hesse for K. Jurende's Mährische Wanderer (1817).
