This comprehensive volume was written by L.C. Snider, Head of the Geological Department of Empire Petroleum and a former Assistant Director of the Oklahoma Geological Survey. The 393 pages of text "is an attempt to put in concise form the essential information concerning the Mid-Continent oil and gas fields," and includes detailed descriptions of the oil fields' history, geology, reserves and valuations. Included in the rear pocket of the volume are the following three maps:
A. Geologic Map of Texas Showing Oil and Gas Fields (20.5 x 19.5"). A detailed map of the state presenting its geological features. Locates 30 fields by number with a legend further identifying gas fields, oil and gas fields, and oil field asphalt. 12 salt dome fields are listed at bottom right.
B. Geologic Map of Kansas and Oklahoma Showing Oil and Gas Fields (21.1 x 19.5"). Locates a staggering 198 fields primarily in eastern Kansas and Oklahoma with a legend at lower left.
C. [Osage Oil Lots] (15.5 x 23.3"). Covers portions of Osage and Pawnee counties in northeastern Oklahoma and locates 32 oil fields in the vicinity.

The folding maps are issued on very thin tissue-like paper and are clean and bright with light toning in a few places. Text has a hint of pleasant light toning. Covers are lightly worn with bumped edges.
