This pictorial map of the state was created by Reginald Manning. The map shows the road network, cities and towns, and is absolutely jam-packed with illustrations featuring natural wonders, points of interest, historically important places, and much more. Copious notations fill the gaps including "Beautiful Highways May Tempt You To Step On It - Please Don't!", "Here We See Man's Mightiest Work, The Boulder Dam", and "Here Is The Salt River Valley - Irrigated Agricultural Empire and World Renowned Winter Playground." The map was typically issued in the rear pocket of his Cartoon Guide of Arizona, which is not included with this example.

Although born in Kansas City, Missouri, Reginald Manning moved to Phoenix, Arizona as a teenager and remained in Arizona for the remainder of his life. His only formal art training was in high school, however he became known for his editorial cartoons, even winning a Pulitzer Prize in 1951 for one of his cartoons about the Korean War entitled "Hats."
