This colorful pictorial map of the world was produced to accompany the radio program The Adventures of Captain Ezra Diamond. This fictional character was created by the Diamond Crystal Salt Company to promote its brand and products. Cartographically, the continents are filled with whimsical illustrations of peoples, wildlife, agriculture and more. The ocean scenes include Poseidon with a mermaid, sea monster, ships, and a decorative compass rose. Below the title cartouche is Captain Ezra looking out to sea along with six named sailboats.

The Diamond Crystal Salt Company began operations in 1886 and is still active today as a part of Cargill Inc.
