Three decorative pictorial maps depicting the original ranchos:
A. The Old Spanish and Mexican Ranchos of Los Angeles County, by the Title Insurance and Trust Company, dated 1929 (9.1 x 10.3"). A colorful map of the county showing the old ranchos including Boca de Santa Monica, Sausal Redondo, and San Pedro to name a few. The Pueblo de Los Angeles is located at center. This depiction apparently is based on the actual records that Title Insurance and Trust used in its title insurance business. Condition: Issued folding with a few faint creases. (A)
B. The Old Spanish and Mexican Ranchos of Los Angeles County, by Gerald A. Eddy, dated 1937 (16.0 x 18.3"). A larger and more decorative version of the map above with bucolic scenes adjacent to the distance scale and compass rose. Features richly developed topography, Ex-Mission de San Fernando, San Francisquito, and more. Condition: There are minor surface abrasions in the Pacific Ocean and a short edge tear confined to the right blank margin that has been closed on verso with archival tape. (B+)
C. The Historic Ranchos of Los Angeles Portrayed for California Federal in Commemoration of the City’s Bicentennial 1781 to 1981, by Boyle, dated 1981 (28.1 x 22.5"). A large map issued at the bicentennial of the City of Los Angeles. Presents the divisions of the original ranchos and complimented by elaborate illustrations showing Spanish traditions. Condition: A colorful example on a sturdy sheet, issued folding, with some minor roughness in the bottom blank margin and name in ink in the top margin. (A)
