This colorful geological map was compiled by Charles Henry Hitchcock and presents 16 geological types in the state including trap, sandstone, limestone, and slate to name a few. The map also reveals excellent detail of the river systems, extending to include most of Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey. Counties are named and delineated in the state, and the tiny street grid patterns of New York City and Philadelphia are graphically depicted.
