This large, colorful and beautifully engraved map shows the island divided into thirteen precincts, and is filled with numerous place names, forts, churches, rivers, plantations, and pastures. The large title cartouche features a mermaid and several putti holding a drape on which the title is emblazoned. Engraved by Luggert van Anse.

A nice impression with full contemporary color on a bright sheet with dampstains. Issued folding and trimmed at top by the bookbinder to fit in a smaller atlas, with loss of the neatline at top.
