An attractive map of the Brittany region that is elaborately decorated with a title cartouche featuring Atlas, sea monsters, and sailing ships. The map provides an excellent view of the cities, numerous villages, rivers, mountains and pictorial forests with a key at lower right. This is the second state of the map with Jansson's imprint replacing that of Hondius. Melchior Tavernier's address has been erased in this second state but is still partially visible. Blank verso, manuscript page 15.
References: Van der Krogt (Vol. I) #4450:1.2.
Condition: B
A nice impression with light offsetting and some minor staining. A short centerfold separation confined to the bottom blank margin has been closed on verso with old paper.
